The Society for Library Professionals (SLP) was established on 3 January 2008 under the Societies Registration Act 1860.
The role of this Society is to achieve high standard of Librarianship in India. This will be achieved by the development of
strong linkages among libraries and information centres across the globe; promotion of the library and information science
profession in India by fostering collaboration with national
and international agencies; and for intellectual development and education exchange of its members.

About Host Institute (IISER, Mohali) : Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali
is one of the Seven Institutes established across India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development ( MHRD),
Govt of India with autonomus status as Institutions of national importance.
These are new premier institutions with the aim to create world class institutes devoted only to education and research in frontier areas of
science broadly on the lines of the "Indian Institute of Science (IISc,), Bangalore. On series , IISER Kolkata and IISER Pune were established in 2006,
IISER Mohali was established in 2007, IISER Bhopal and IISER Thiruvananthapuram were established in 2008 , IISER Tirupati in 2015 and IISER Brahmapur in 2016.
IISER Mohali is completing ten years in 2017 and many BS-MS Five years Integrated and PhD and Post Doctural students were passed out with skill of

About Asian Chapter (SLA)
The Special Libraries Association (SLA) with its headquarter at USA, is a non-profit global organization
for information. SLA was founded in 1909 in the State of New York and is now the international association
representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in over eighty countries worldwide.
The mission of the Special Libraries Association is to advance the leadership role of SLA members in putting
knowledge to work for the benefit of decision makers. The SLA Asian chapter has about 175 members and
covers a large geographical area consisting of 22 countries.
